The Magic Isn't in the Plan - It's in the Execution

We are back and soooo apologize for the long radio silence. It has been super busy for both of us, but we are committed to sending you a ton of great info coming up.

First off, a huge congrats to Coach Cal and the Women’s Olympic Hockey team for taking Gold just the other day! Cal is still in Italy with the team. Huge congrats!!

One of the most common questions we get is:

"If I only have 6-8 weeks, how do I set up a simple Triphasic program?"

Let’s cut right to the heart of what makes Triphasic work: It's not the program. It's not the plan.

The Real Magic

Start with what your athletes currently know.

Don't overcomplicate things by changing everything at once.

Take their current lifts and add the eccentric, isometric, and concentric phases to those movements.

Simple is better

Cal started Triphasic 22 years ago doing it only on main lifts.

That's it. He kept asking questions and evolved from there, but the foundation was simple.

The 6-8 Week TP Blueprint

For intermediate athletes new to Triphasic:

  • Weeks 1-2: Eccentric emphasis
  • Weeks 3-4: Isometric emphasis
  • Weeks 5-6: Concentric emphasis
  • Weeks 7-8: Retest

But remember - you're not trying to get them to back squat 500 pounds. You're trying to get them stronger, period.

Cal was able to get his throwers 60 pounds stronger in back squat without ever back squatting, just from super maximal loading.

The Bottom Line

Getting stronger is great, as long as it transfers to the field of play, which is where the TP methods really shine.

Whether it's hex bar deadlifts, back squats, or whatever lift fits your situation - the principle remains the same.

Get your athlete stronger using the three phases, and the strength will show up where it matters.

Start simple.

Ask questions.

Keep evolving and tweaking.

The ultra simple phases above still work day in and day out for many new athletes.
